Volunteer Opportunity for Local Seniors- Earn a $ 500 Property Tax Reduction!
Join the SMILES Program – Keystone Central School District is expanding its SMILES( Senior Motivators in Learning & Education Services) Program for the 2026 / 27 school year- and we want YOU to be a part of it!
What is SMILES? SMILES is a community service opportunity for retired residents or property owners in the KCSD who meet income guidelines. In exchange for 69 volunteer hours, participants receive a $ 500 reduction on their next year’ s school property taxes( one per primary taxable residence).
Ways You Can Help With Students:
• Assist in classrooms, computer labs, libraries, and cafeterias
• Tutor or help children with reading
• Share your musical talents In Support Areas:
• Assist in art, gym, or the library
• Support special projects such as cleaning, painting, or groundskeeping
• Assist with office or clerical duties Eligibility Requirements: Must be retired and reside in or own residential property within the KCSD district. Provide proof of income( KCSD local income tax return or SSI award letter / deposit statement).
Required clearances: Act 34( Criminal Background Check), Act 151( Child Abuse Clearance), Act 114( FBI Clearance), Mandated Reporter Training Certificate.
