throughout the entire song. She is seemingly alone in a warehouse, dancing on her own to her own music, what else could be better?
Alt J - Breezeblocks
This video was introduced to me earlier this year. It is particularly interesting to watch because the entire video is backwards. There are many music videos that do this theme, but the story told in this video is morbid and hooks you in, as it mimics some plot you would see on television. This makes the song pose as a background song in a bigger story, for now I wouldn’t listen to the song on its own without the video.
There’s a hidden power of a music video. It can tell a story, or show a side of the song to a listener from the band’s perspective. However, if someone gets used to the video, it may be hard to listen to the song on its own. That’s why there are so many careers in music video production alone coming up with the ideas, setting the right scene, and painting the perfect picture in someone’s head.
Of course, Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” is probably the most hated music video of all time, due to the Internet trend of being “Rick Rolled.” Rick rolling someone is creating an intriguing subject for a video, forcing people to click on it and the video ends up being this video. The most frustrating and hilarious trends on the World Wide Web.
