You went from being in a girl group to being solo, was that a hard change?
It was a difficult time as I’d spent so much time with the girls, it had always been me and two others, so adjusting and transitioning from that was a bit difficult, but I got there in the end.
What was it like being a supportive group and then doing it on your own?
It was different, it felt weird for a while because I was used to having the backup from the girls, and me to them. So going from one extreme to the next, it was weird at first. But then you get used it, I got back into practice, I went straight back in to the studio with Mdot-E and picked up where we left off and got back into the flow of things. I started to find my own way, in terms of being a solo artist, aside form being in a girl group.
Your new visual EP is interesting, how did you come up with the initial ideas for this.. were you into media?
No, I wasn’t into media, I’ve always done a bit of acting here and there, as when I was younger I went to theatre school for a while and attended Brit school for a while. In terms of the EP, I wrote and recorded. When we as a collective listened to the songs back to back, everyone said it sounded like I was telling a story. It’s natural with people within the music industry all musicians will say, when you write a song, you visual a video to go with it as well. It just seemed like a story went well with it in terms of making each song link. They bring the songs to life, the videos tell a story and gives the song a story as well, so if you listen you automatically imagine the scenario and the situation.
The charactes go from being madly in love and the drama. The questions are; is there going to be a happy ending, and from the trailer, how does she end up in a mental asylum?
Well, the first three videos are about, the fourth will give you a gist of why I end up in the mental asylum.. you’ve just got to follow what happens.
Is it true?
I don’t know, maybe! No, not necessarily for me. I know a lot of people have said to me since seeing the first few videos, that they can relate to this and it feels like I’ve told a story of their lives and experiences. It’s probably s story that’s happened to somebody.
So, when will it all be out?
The next video should be out next week for Love Don’t Live here, and that’s the story before the last song which is contemplating which will follow two weeks later and again you’ll see me in a madhouse.
Where do you find your inspiration for writing?
My inspiration draws from experiences, if not my own, then my peers or people around me. I’ve actually written a song
before based off a book that I read. T’s weird, most of my inspiration come from experiences, they can come from different scenarios, whether it be from
different scenarios, whether it be
