• Honor visiting athletes , coaches , and spectators as your own guests and treat them as such . Likewise , behave as an honored guest when visiting another school .
• Be gracious in victory and defeat ; learn to take defeat well . Remember , winning shows some of your character , losing shows all of your character .
• Be as cooperative as you are competitive .
• Conduct yourselves as ladies and gentlemen on and off the playing field or court . Students are reminded that they are representing their team , coach , family , The Cornerstone Christian School , and , ultimately , the Lord Jesus Christ .
• Display good sportsmanship , understanding that competitive rivalries are encouraged , but disrespect for opponents is unsportsmanlike and lessens the value of the rivalries . Treat opponents with respect ; shake hands after contests .
• Fighting and other forms of physical or verbal abuse of teammates , opponents , coaches , spectators , or officials will result in disciplinary action and may result in suspension from the team for a period of time or removal from the team for the remainder of the season .
• Any student found vandalizing , stealing , or having unauthorized possession of Cornerstone ’ s or any other school ’ s equipment or uniforms may be expelled from athletic competition for the remainder of the season or school year . The student may also face other school disciplinary action .
• Abide by the established dress code as communicated by the coach for all practices , game day attire at school , games , and trips .
• Regard the rules of your game as agreements , the spirit or letter of which you should not evade or break . The rules need to be commitments .
• Accept the coach ’ s decisions regarding play time during games , understanding the developmental philosophy outlined in this handbook .
• Arrive for all practices and competitions on time and prepared with all required equipment / uniforms .
• Spectators should watch games from those areas defined by each school as spectator areas . They must not run up and down sidelines , call to players , coaches , or officials in an unsportsmanlike manner , go onto the field of play , or deface property .
• Any action which detracts from the ability of coaches , players , and officials to do their best is not acceptable .

Resolving Conflict

Student and parent problems and conflicts need to be resolved while using the principles of Matthew 18 . Please follow the steps listed below .
• Discuss the situation directly with the coach .
• If the initial contact with the coach does not resolve the situation , request to discuss the situation with the Athletic Director .
• If the previous two levels do not bring about a satisfactory resolution , ask to speak to the Secondary Level Principal .
