World War 1 Commemorative Assembly
A few weeks ago the school held an assembly in memoir of World War 1. This
event spread consciousness among the student body of the great tragedy this
war was and led them to mourn all of the soldiers that lost their lives for peace.
Ms. Marcia opened the assembly with a poem by Robert Frost . It set the mood
for the assembly and had a big impact in every one of the students. During the
assembly, three students from the UK read poems about the war, showing how
much it meant to them and how close it hit home for them. A minute of silence
was held to commemorate those that fell, and a sense of peacefulness and
calmness invaded the cafeteria. On a more positive note, Ms. Plantagie decided
to close the assembly by playing the famous “Imagine” by John Lennon. This
opened both the student’s and the teacher’s hearts, who started singing in
unison. The song made everyone hopeful for a better future and a peaceful
world.
