Science Group 4 Projects: 9 th Grade

The Group 4 Projects consist of groups of six to eight people cooperating together to do research on a scientific or technology related topic. In order to choose an appropriate topic you can follow five simple steps to help make your decision easier.
1. First, you identify different topics by asking the students in your group for ideas.
2. Second, you can do a little“ brainstorming” with your group to discuss the topics or ideas gathered.
3. Third, you choose two or three of the most interesting ideas and discuss them.
4. Fourth, you vote for the best idea, and that will become your topic.
5. In the fifth and last step, the group members write up a list with the different experiments or investigations you can carry out with that topic.
The topic chosen should aim for the 7 and 8 subjects. The aim 7 consists in the information and communication skills used and needed. On the other hand, the aim 8 is about the moral, ethical, social, economic and environmental implications.
The project should take a total of 10 hours to be completed. The 10 hours don’ t have to be spent at once; they can be used over throughout different weeks. This project can be separated into 3 different stages: the planning, the action and the evaluation. In order to complete this project successfully, you will need to take into consideration these five aspects:
1. First, you will have to carry out a lab investigation or fieldwork.
2. Next, you have to carry out a comparative study with another school.
3. The third aspect consists in joining, manipulating, and analyzing data from other sources you have not used, like journals, environmental organizations, and science technology and government reports.
4. Afterwards, you will have to design and use a model or simulation.
5. Finally, you must contribute in a long-term project organized by your school.
This research can be practice or theory based. These projects are good for helping students learn the importance of teamwork and cooperation, and the process involved in science investigation.
In the end, the research is actually more important than the final results of the experiments.

10 th Grade trip to London

The Trip Recently, the 10 th graders went on a trip to London in order to celebrate the end of the school year. They left the Bilbao airport the 24th of May and came back on the 28th. While in London, they took part in many different academic activities, but also had some time for themselves to shop and take a walk around England’ s beautiful capital.
Activities During these five days the 10 th graders visited many important places such as the British Museum, the Tate Gallery, The London Tombs, the Science and Natural History Museums, or the very well known Globe Theatre, where Shakespeare used to stage his plays. Most of the afternoons, the students had free time to have their lunch and go shopping, and that way enjoy the city more freely. They went to see the musical“ We Will Rock You” by Queen, which was very entertaining and everyone enjoyed it fully.
Personal Impression
The trip was very enjoyable, since the class was constantly involved in different activities. Although there were some issues concerning the behavior of some students, everyone had the time of their lives at this unforgettable trip. After all, it is London we’ re talking about.
