Wear Your Colors Day
The annual International Week took place in the final week of May . Many of the Upper School graders took part in the experience to educate the Lower School classes . The school had flags , banners , and signs of all different nationalities to make the school feel more international . The Lower School also met in the auditorium and talked about how students and teachers could work together to create a more pleasant community . Every year , the 6 graders have a special day called “ Greek Day ”, where they dress up with traditional greek clothing and organize typical greek activities . On Wednesday , we celebrated wear your colors day , and everybody at school had to wear a special T-shirt or Jersey represent a country they liked or they felt identified with . It was great to see the school shinning in all types of colors . Everybody at school had a fantastic time and are ready to celebrate the International Week next year .

Indigenous People
The 5 th grade class has been learning about different people and tribes around the world . They have been doing individual projects about them and they have also made models of the typical houses in which the tribes lived . The projects were presented in class first and when they felt ready and prepared , the students gave a presentation to other Lower School students , parents and teachers . Everyone who went to see the projects were amazed to see how well the houses were made and how well students had organized their writings and how much they knew about their tribes ( where they lived , who they were , what they ate , etc .). They did a fantastic job !

Greek Day
Greek Day proved to be a wonderful day for every sixth grader . They had been looking forward to it since almost the start of the year , and they told us that they felt like real Greek people . The best part of it all , according to the teacher , Mrs . Dyer , was that it was easy to prepare on the whole because they followed the pattern of previous years : “ Students were divided into groups , and they prepared it all themselves ! The Olympic Games , the debate about the citizens , and all the food !’’ The food included Greek salad , olives , apple juice , tomato , and fruits of all kinds . Greek Day also involved acting out the famous play of Orpheus and Euridice , a story of loss and tragedy , to
all Lower School . In addition to that , they acted out some fables with the first graders , like “ The Peacock ” and “ The Fox and the Goat .” They dramatized several more plays .
They also enjoyed many traditional Greek activities , such as wrestling and racing in the Olympic Games , the best part of the whole day , but unfortunately , they couldn ’ t do jumping because of the wet grass children could get hurt if they slipped . They also took part in a debate , where they discussed whether metics and women should be allowed full citizenship . They told us that they didn ’ t stop having fun , “ We were so excited that we didn ’ t listen much .’’ Mrs . Dyer , however , was really pleased with her students :
“ They behaved really well , and were interested and involved in everything . In fact , they said it was one of the best days in sixth grade , so that probably means that they really enjoyed it .”
The only disadvantage that they had to face was the weather . They couldn ’ t have their traditional picnic on the grass , due to the rain and cold temperatures they had to go back inside and put more clothes on . They also confessed that they didn ’ t learn anything , because they already knew most of the information from class . But despite all this , Greek Day was a wonderful day everyone enjoyed . Mrs . Dyer said ,
“ I always LOVE Greek Day . It ’ s a great day , and everyone dresses up , including me !’’
