International Week Assembly
International Week Assembly
Once again, all Lower School has joined together for a morning full of songs, music and, most importantly, fun. Yes, we’ re talking about the International Week Assembly. It began with an amazing water show, courtesy of Kinder 2, but that was only the tip of the iceberg! After that came the 5 th Grade with their incredible Poi dance-a magnificent way for others to learn about dances from a different culture! Then came 1 st Grade, singing a marvelous song about being human and what it really means. Next, were the most admired and eldest of all the show, 6 th Graders with an awesome Greek play narrating the story of Orpheus and Euridice, and the hero’ s courageous journey to the Underworld. Second Grade then left the whole audience awestruck with their beautiful performance of What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong and, after them, the 4 th Graders came and taught us about our own culture with a brilliant example of a Basque dance. Coming to the end came the Kinder 1 with yet another marvelous song, It’ s a Beautiful Day, and then the awaited Pre-Kinder, who performed a song called What a Miracle with the help of Beatriz Crespo, Carmen Rita Gomeza, Elena Lamana, Sara de la Mata, Miren López, Naroa Quintana and Sara Jata Goiri-our amazing volunteers! And last, but certainly not least, we had the 3 rd Grade with their play Mikku and the Trees, a tale from Estonia which urges everyone to take care of our marvelous environment. All in all, everyone had a wonderful morning. Congratulations to all the performers and volunteers. Great job!

Working Together Internationally
On the week of May 20 th, ASB celebrated International Week and the whole school was decorated accordingly. Flags from different countries were hung on the corridors and each class decorated the door of their homeroom with a different design.
7 th Grade For this special day, the young 7 th graders created some posters of different countries, such as Greece or Italy, where some basic words and numbers were written in both English and the country’ s language. When they finished creating the posters, they went to Ms. Ana’ s class and shared their knowledge of the language with the little children. These posters were later hunged on the classroom doors where they can still be seen. They all enjoyed learning about new languages and had lots of fun.
8 th Grade For International Day, the 8 th graders prepared a special activity for Ms. Becky’ s class. They organized different stations, each representing a different country, and the five-year-olds followed a trail which took them to all of the stations. At each one, they were given typical food from that country, and were later on given an“ unknown flag”. They had to figure out to which country that flag belonged to and that would be their next destination.
Everybody had a great time and the little kids learned a lot from the experience.
9 th Grade The 9 th graders also actively participated in this special week at ASB. This class travelled back in time until they were three years old and did very special and creative necklaces with the youngest children at school. These necklaces were made of pasta, more specifically dried macaroni, and many other decorative objects.“ It was lots of fun. I really enjoyed it,” said Miren López( 9 th Grade) when asked about the activity.
