DECEMBER 2017
Study, study and score marks. Once you have scored marks, it’s the marks going to select the course for you. You got 60%, then select this course; if 90% you select this course. Scoring marks is directly related to one’s ability to memorize, reproduce the facts neatly in a written format. Unfortunately these exam skills won’t guarantee career success and we have many bright students choosing the wrong course and might lose the way forward, or struggle to complete. We already have lot of standard answers to describe their outcomes, favorable or unfavorable. For the last many years, we have invented some intelligent reasons like parental pressure, peer pressure, poor college, wrong course etc to do the postmortem. But rarely do we find a road map to move forward.
So how to get it right? Let’s try it out!
1. Ask questions – It appears so simple, but we get the right answers only by asking the right questions. So what are the questions? What are your innate skills, your qualities? What makes you feel good? What is the thing that keeps you engaged? Do you like to talk or being silent? Like to be alone or with others? What is your values? List out some of your interesting jobs and why? There are endless questions to know more about yourself and it’s a time consuming process, which is very very important.
