Ans 2: Just allow the learning to happen itself, by setting the right environment. Transition from a small seed to a giant tree is not because of any external supplements, but the chance to grow in its own very nature. But here, the biggest effort is to make the environment ready for our students to develop themselves. They observe and understand the students, identify and accept their diversity and develop a plan for each individual. We don’t put the same manure to all the plants and trees in our garden, at least the quantity differs. We knew everything don’t require the same. Until we make use of this knowledge in our classrooms, we will continue to expect the shrubs to give coconuts and mangos.
Natural learning can happen in any settings, provided we have got some basic elements. The most important element is that joyful surrounding which is never compelling and fearful. The freedom to explore mindset of a growing child needs to be nurtured with openness and courage. The moment we hinder that part, the level of curiosity slowly starts dying down and sooner they become ‘fixed’ mark scoring production houses. Where is the fun element that best connects anything to life? Next the package of ‘one for all’ seems very cruel. Making the tiger eat grass or cow eating chicken seems impossible, but we make all our students digest the same without questioning. Do we know how many vomit the entire stuff? Some might get sick and some might take the additional pills of tuition, which is both harmful and allergic. I am not ignoring the fact that in our classrooms, some students do manage to get what they want. But the problem is our classification of students based on their grades, which restrict us from identifying every one as needy for a happy future. Bringing the unorganized lives of the outside world inside and taking the class outside the walls of the right answers needs to be made common for our students to have a pinch of real life in learning. Or like many of us had in our childhood, the thought of ‘life and freedom begins only when you stop learning’ stays over in their minds, and they may fail miserably to connect their beautiful life and joyful learning.
