Realizing I needed assistance , I headed out for the lake house , sure that I ' d find help from one of the four neighbor families who come to the lake every weekend . There are four great families that have moved into our lake community in the past five years and we all have become good friends . I felt sure that if I could get myself to the lake-house-community , one of the women there would be willing and able to pluck this blood-sucking-critter from my belly -button for me . I wanted one of the women to do it . Didn ' t like the idea of a man poking around in my belly-button but the idea of the husband looking on as one of the women did the operation was okay . After all , who would be more likely to have tweezers and know how to use them ?
So I get to the first neighbor ' s house .... no one there , no vehicles in the drive . I drive to the next house .... no one at that lake house either . I got all the way to my family ' s place and not one family or couple was around ! I thought , " Well , it is 7:30 on Saturday morning , maybe somebody will drive in in a couple hours or so ." I relented to take on a little carpentry project to pass the time waiting for someone to show up and " play doctor " with me ... on me . But , first I just had to take some action against this burrowed-to-his-buttbeast in my belly-button . I went to the medicine cabinet looking for what , I didn ' t know .... something to smear , spray or dab on the thing . Merthiolate ? No . Crest toothpaste ? No , that ' s for preventing cavities ... the cavity was already there . Preparation-H ? No , the whole of my belly-button might disappear along with that tick ! Ah , there it was , Vick ' s Vapo Rub ! Inspiration !
I ' ve heard that the reason we have a belly button is so that we have a place to keep the ketchup while we ' re lying on our backs , watching TV and eating French fries . That reservoir will hold liquids and semisolids ; why not top off the the fleshy depression with a teaspoon of Vick ' s and go to my carpentry work ... maybe he ' ll start to smother and let go and back out or
