From our Gavel Club Mentors
Passing on their words of wisdom
“Coaching is a new way of learning” is in few words my mentoring experience with Gavel club. Confucius said “What I hear, I forget. What I see, I remember. What I do, I understand”, this is exactly what happened during the Gavel club sessions I attended. Who is learning from whom is a question that comes to my mind at the end of every gavel club meeting. The gavelliors had something new to offer in every aspect of effective speech preparation. Their excellent word usage, accent and creativity are anew every time.
My child hood dream of becoming a teacher was fulfilled in my role as ISC Gavel club coordinator. Being an engineer, I hardly get time to interact with today’s young minds. ISC Gavel club filled that gap. ISC Gavel club has not only provided a forum for developing their communication and leadership skills, but also enhancing their creativity. This newsletter is the first milestone in that direction. My hearty congratulations to the new Gavel club executive committee and all gavelliors for this success. They are aspiring to giving back to the society through voluntary effort as a next step. It’s a wonderful experience to see the gavelliors outgrowing the toastmasters.
Personally, I’m delighted to be a part of this journey. Special thanks to TM.Manmohan & TM.Sunil for entrusting me with this responsibility when I was still a new Toastmaster.
