The President's Message
TM PV Thomas
President
I am truly enthralled that the ISC Gavel Club is releasing its first newsletter. Kudos Gaveliers!!! At the onset, I would like to appreciate MTM Hemalatha to lead the Gaveliers and guide them to compile this amazing newsletter. Our Gav.Tharanath and his team have done a truly remarkable and splendid job. You have truly made us proud or must I say the Gavaliers truly rock!
The Newsletter forms a major role in the whole round development of the Gaveliers. The Gavel Newsletter would serve us a platform for the young minds to share their burgeoning ideas and views on various topics. And hence, I would request each Gavelier to use this opportunity and pen down their thoughts and voice their opinions.
Newsletter gives you a medium of communication that is so powerful – the power to communicate with words. Words can make or break a person. Words could heal a troubled mind, inspire a broken heart or kill like a sword. I recently saw a video that speaks volumes about the power of words. A beggar was sitting on a footpath and held a placard that read “I am blind. Please help”. He was anxiously waiting for the passer bys to have mercy on him and help him with a few offerings. As the day goes by, he realizes that he has gathered a very meager amount and was heartbroken. Just then a compassionate lady walks up to him, writes something on the placard and goes by. Unaware of what was written, he realizes that the passer bys were suddenly donating generously. At the end of the day, the same lady walks up to him to see how he has been doing. He tells her that every day he sat there holding the same placard and people rarely bothered to stop by or donate a penny. But what he witnessed today was a miracle, ever since she wrote on his placard people have been extremely generous. So he asks her what was it that she wrote that had such a big impact. She smiles and says “Today is a beautiful day, you can see it but I can’t”. Those simple words touched the hearts of many and probably caused the new found generosity. They both meant to convey the same thing but they chose different words.
You can change your world by changing your words. You have the power within you so pen down your thoughts and make your share in changing the world.
Wishing you all the best for the upcoming newsletters."
