W REGIONAL REPORT SPOKANE ARTS orking with galleries and venues throughout the city to co-host, Spokane Arts crafted the series with the desire to foster spaces for artists and creative professionals to interact and learn from each other. Each Meet Up focuses on a different discussion topic, ranging from “Social Media for Artists and Performers” to “Valuing Your Work.” Casual but intentional conversations were encouraged by the use of “question cards” that Spokane Arts creates for each event and hands out to every attendee. Each card contains a single question pertaining to the evening’s topic, to be used as a conversation starter and to prompt discussion between creatives who may not know each other yet. When does the environment most influence your art? “Traveling or spend- ing time on the land gathering foods places me in environments that plant endless seeds of ideas for new work. The results are often lists and sketch- es to take back to my little studio.” — Emma Noyes — Artist Tiffany Patterson, Spokane, WA November | December 2019 61
