The Design The brief was for a small 2,500m 2 office block consisting of two wings with a centre core . The clean , white walled external architecture complements the existing buildings within the precinct . The design style is a contemporary interpretation of the existing architecture of the area , giving a nod to the past whilst acknowledging the modern office requirements of tenants .
The prominent western façade is highlighted visually through the use of large sliding louvres , which also serve the practical purpose of mitigating heat gain . High-spec double glazing
throughout also does an excellent job of mitigating heat gain within the interior of the building .
The sloping site necessitated a basement excavation that accommodates the parking for the building . Access to the building is either at street level or from the basement parking . The north façade , dominated by an extruded glazed ‘ box ’, overlooks the parking . The flat concrete roof was chosen for its limited visual impact as well as providing a suitable surface for an extensive solar panel installation . Originally designed for multiple tenants , the building is currently exclusively tenanted by PWC .
