DESIGN CONCEPT External Envelope Vivid Architects saw the opportunity to completely re-image the centre as the extensions to the envelope of the existing building made a complete building façade upgrade possible .
A contemporary design aesthetic has been used , with clean lines and attention to key areas such as entrances , and external canopy structures over public walkways . Where the existing façades were not extended , all of the themed art deco elements were demolished and the existing face brick walls plastered to continue the new design theme . A continuous perimeter colonnade , consisting of steel work and roof sheeting , was added to the majority of the building façade that was accessible to the public .
Brickwork buttresses on a regular module provided relief to large wall planes , as well as repeating the rhythm of the steel work
