Socially Responsive Development The development was a joint project with the local authority , street traders and local building owners . Their participation and input , which required that their aims and objectives were reconciled with the development objectives , resulted in the community and the developers benefitting .
Design and Construction Innovation The single major innovation was the construction of the mall bridges across the dividing street which entailed a light weight steel structure with minimum impact on the road which was “ a myriad of public service reticulation ”. Compounding the difficulty of a large span structure , the height of the existing floors between the buildings differed considerably which resulted in the bridge having to ramp between the buildings .
