• Over and above this are social areas incorporating library , créche , gymnasium , canteen , training rooms , boardroom and a smoking room , which formed the total areas within our ( TKI and Adendorff ) scope of works .
• Within these areas , it was essential that space planning , design , specification and supervision to ensure the fit-out ran true to the final approved detail .
• To ensure harmonious integration of both the building and interior design , this included keeping within a modern look and feel , appealing to both local and international visitors both young and old , showcasing local skills and talent and then enhancing these by using modern finishes , texture and colour .
• Budget , as always , was a concern and did , in part , affect the final delivery but , as with any project , this forms part of the challenge of mixing concept with reality and finding a middle ground from which you can then appease the client and , hopefully justify any shortfalls .
• Colour was used to differentiate the floors within the office spaces - a neutral scheme was created for the ground floor to appeal to the wider audience , orange , red , green and blue floors appeared thereafter . The colour was then blended from dark ( to symbolise the East ), to light in the West .
• Features included hardwearing timber-looking vinyls and quartz carpet to the floors , as well as central atrium stairwell tread casings , made of timber , offering a professional and contemporary vibe .
• Additional features include modern wallpapers and specialised plaster work mixed-in with the painted colour schemes . Custom made shopfitting , the use of Perspex and signage walls to add further features within , complemented with the use of modern furniture pieces where necessary to uplift the vibe in front of house areas , add the final touches . Allowance was made to re-use existing office furniture and seating where possible and , on the whole , this was well taken care of and maximised to achieve budget .
The interior project fit-out was delivered within 4-5 months of intense work by much of the local labour , complementing the skills within for the future growth of the IDZ .
