this space to play with rhythm . The interior space for the gym was designed by TCRPV architects and they also introduced the face-brick on the internal feature walls to link the aesthetics .
Materials and Palette Steel and sheeting painted dark grey are offset visually against the copper tones of Corobrik ’ s Protea Travertine facebrick . Glass adds to the grandeur and sleekness of the façade and this introduces a formality to the office building . Stained matted timber doors and ceiling slats set against a dark background reflect a similar approach to that taken with retail centre and introduce more warmth .
Sustainability In the initial layout of the complete site and precinct , protected green areas were established . These areas contain plant life that have not been disturbed for about 300 years . These areas also include the Apies River . Bees in close proximity of the site have been carefully moved and more box hives have been placed far away from public areas .
As part of the initial planning , the closest brick factory about 17km away , was chosen to ensure lower transport cost and lower carbon footprint .
More natural light is introduced by the central atrium and the large glass shaded façades . LED lighting is used throughout . The building design allows for UV panels on the roof . ( The lifestyle centre already uses such a solar farm and has the capacity to produce 1MW of power ).
Rain water harvesting takes place on site and the building makes use of this .
