AQHA PRESIDENT REPORT- RICKY GLEN

Dear Members,

As this is my last term as president of the AQHA, it gives me great joy to present my annual report for 2026.

It has been an interesting 3 years as President of the AQHA, it has been many highs and of course some lows as well.

I must thank the Board of the AQHA for there support over this term and wish the next director who takes over this roll all the best as it is very time consuming but we only do it as our passion for the AQHA is something a director must have to sit on the board of the AQHA.

Directors are elected by the membership and we must remember that as we are entrusted by the membership to ensure the AQHA is managed in a manner that reflects members interests with a tweak here of there.

The AQHA is in a very strong place financially and you will notice a loss last year which is something we try to avoid but if you look at the costings for the National Show you will see it ' s great expense to the AQHA but the board recognises that we must run this event for the membership and even though it continues to run at a loss, it continues to grow and is a great show that our members love to attend and in the future we hope this will come closer to a break even event.

All aspects of our industry continues to grow, our horses are selling at record prices at sales held in Australia and the call for them to be purchased here and sent back to the USA and other countries around the world shows that what we are doing here in Australia is paying dividends for our breeders and owners which in turn encourages them to invest further into our industry.

The activity ' s and programs that the board sanctions each year also helps our industry grow, whether it be youth programs, amateur clinics, judging clinics, incentive programs going towards the cattle and timed events and the most important part is the registration and recording of our Australian Quarter Horse and the protection of our stud book here in Australia against genetic or inheritable problems that could effect its integrity and this is something that is monitored by our stud book subcommittee.

Our office is managed by our GM, Gemma Clarke who oversee the day to day operations of the AQHA and thanks must go to Gemma for doing this task. After 32 odd years on the board, I have seen a lot of changes, from the AQHA being very unfinancial to now where we are in a very strong place all around and I thank the board for the dedication to the AQHA to make this happen.
