I WANT TO CONTINUE TO IMPROVE MYSELF AND LEARN MORE THAN I DID EVERY YEAR BEFORE. THAT’ S MY BIGGEST AIM
“
Initially broken-in and trained for Ranch Riding by Matilda’ s father, Scott, Eagleview Desert Rose, Q-86145, is a lovely, quiet riding horse. Four years ago, Matilda took over Rose’ s training.
‘ I’ ve focused completely on her show career since. I ride and train Rose at home several days a week, and to keep her mind fresh we’ ll head out of the arena to check cattle or ride around the farm. When focused, Rose is easy to show, but on off days, she keeps me on my toes. Rose loves the freedom of the large paddock she shares with three other workhorses. Rugged according to the weather, Rose is bathed regularly, and groomed when she comes in. Above all she loves being pampered!’
Competing in all Ranch events with Rose, Matilda’ s favourites are the cattle events.
‘ I love cattle events because they allow me to expand my knowledge and skill set. I appreciate the challenge and have always felt drawn to them. When competing in Ranch events, I strive to do my best by focusing on my horse, and executing our patterns correctly. A stunning mare, Rose is also a big, strong-moving horse; traits that I believe are essential for a Ranch Horse needing to handle a full day’ s work.’
