Sue Williams and Penny Webb have really inspired Matilda in Ranch classes.
‘ Sue has had a significant influence on me, in the way she rides, trains, and competes with her horses, while Penny has always provided incredible encouragement and support at every show.’
The following two consecutive years saw Matilda achieve the title of New England Quarter Horse Association High Point Youth, as well as the 2023 AQHA National High Point Youth 7-13 yrs Award for Ranch Versatility.
In 2024, Matilda had a fantastic year with Rose, earning a ROM in Ranch Riding, and taking out National Champion Youth Ranch Riding at Q24, from a large class of 16 riders. Matilda’ s grand finale for that year was taking out the Australian Ranch Horse Association Nationals High Point Award.
‘ I attend New England Quarter Horse Association and Ranch Horse Association shows and enjoy them all. The AQHA community is so supportive, with ladies like Wendy Kelly, Trudie Richardson, and Maria Jackson, who always share valuable advice, and are wonderful to be with at shows. I competed with Rose at the Q25 Nationals, and later at the RHAA State Show and the RHAA National Show, and I’ ve also leased Sue and David Williams’ mare, Cee N Somethin Hot, which I showed successfully at Q25. I will show her in Ranch Versatility for the remainder of 2025. I want to continue to improve myself and learn more than I did every year before. That’ s my biggest aim.’
