DIRECTOR REPORTS - 2022 / 2023
RICKY GLEN
- Portfolio : Hall of Fame
Dear Members , 2023 will see the 1st AQHA dinner to be held post Covid to induct and recognise the horses and people inducted into the AQHA Hall Of Fame over the past 3 years .
The Hall of Fame is the most prestigious award a horse or member may receive from the AQHA as it recognises the contribution that these inductees have made to have the AQHA one of the leading registries of horses in Australia today .
Nominations are received and are looked at by the sub committee and then their recommendations are put to the AQHA board to be ratified .
Not all nominations make the HOF which upsets some people but the sub committee looks at past nominations and compares them to the new ones as well as looking at a persons or horses contribution to the AQHA industry over all .
You will see people or horses going into the Heritage Hall of Fame which means they were involved in the early years of our industry or they go into the Hall of Fame which covers the recent side of our industry .
I congratulate the inductees coming up for 2023 and welcome future nominations to be submitted for consideration .
I would like to thank my sub committee , Karen Thrun , Annie Boyd , Kim Johnson and Trish Wettenhall for giving their time and the AQHA board for recognising and supporting this portfolio and the AQHA office .
With Thanks Ricky Glen

- Portfolio : Cattle & Timed Events
Dear Members , The last year has been a bumper year for the cattle and timed events side of the AQHA with record entries being seen in Camp Draft events across the country and records being made at horse sales relating to this part of our industry .
The AQHA has again supported this side of our industry with cash incentives being paid out across the camp draft , cutting , challenge , reined cowhorse , roping and barrel racing events .
The Williinga Open Draft again paid out 100,000 to the winner with over 300 horses again this year entering in this event .
The 2 NUTRIEN sales selling mainly horses which will go into the camp draft and cutting industries again resulted in close to 15 million dollars in horses sold with mainly registered Quarter Horses and others with Quarter Horse breeding but registered with the ASHS topping these sales .
The ABHA has some exiting events in the pipeline with aged events starting to come into their industry and the AQHA will be working close with them to ensure we have a close relationship with these events to come .
The Roping side is also in talks with running some aged events so stay tuned for more news on these to come .
The Stockmans Challenge side of the industry also has record entries and again Quarter Horses are sort after for these as well .
The 2024 AQHA nationals will feature camp drafts with record prize money on offer as well as a complete cutting program as well as other cattle and timed events . I would like to thank my sub committee , Kylie Barrnet Tapp , Rob Leach , Phil Web and Kim Johnson for there effort to ensure the AQHA covers these important events within our industry and of course the AQHA board who recognises the importance to support and promote the cattle and timed events within the AQHA .
Also thank you to the AQHA office for their help over the last year . With Thanks Ricky Glen
