HORSEMANSHIP NOVICE AMATEUR

closely by Lyndall Dauth and VS Heartbeat Q-73998.
Youth divisions were split into three age groups and all
were well supported.
Congratulations to the showmanship winners in the
youth classes – Lacey Lalor and Denims The Menace
Q-39003, Tia Jakubenko and Lil Red Rodder Q-58449
and Sharnte Wilson and BPS Hot N Sassy Q-67754. We
saw good numbers in most halter classes. The Jess Voss
Memorial 3yr old Mare class was won by Im A Celebrity
Q-83417 owned and shown by Christine Sewell. Leanne
Gidman had a great show with her halter horses which
she preps and shows on her own. “Going into my first class
with my beautiful weanling colt, TCS Sheer Illusion Q-92863,
I was a little stressed on how he would go. As the class was
announced from fourth, I thought thank goodness we aren’t
last. We ended up winning the class. Low and behold back
in for Champion and then they called out my colt for State
Grand Champion. I was so proud and overwhelmed that I
went to tears.”
The day finished with Lopes N Dreams Q-80757 winning
against excellent numbers in Junior Horse Hunter in Hand.
Friday started with great numbers in dressage out on the
grass oval judged by Ms Kay Paulsen, drizzly rain caused
the Hack to be moved into the Indoor Arena. Judge Mieke
Bigg was impressed with a quality line up of Horses in the
Hack and Show Hunter Classes. Grand Champion Show
Hunter was sponsored by The Lalor Family in memory of
Catwalk Mischief Jack Q-47451 and won by Designed
by The Prophet Q-80427 ridden and owned by Janet
Mansley. GQHPA re-introduced the Hunter Hack classes
this year. Amber Denton and Gobstopper did well to win
both the Youth and All Age classes. Friday afternoon saw
the first of the Trail classes, the 2 Year Old Trail sponsored

1st Hayley Smith - Proud Lil Bo Duke Q-80871
by Lopin Pretty was a lovely class with Surely Something
Good Q-91668 and Natasha Humphries in first place.
Novice Amateur Trail sponsored by Jocelyns Tails was
won by Danita Reid riding YLS Bodacious. Once again,
the Junior Horse Trail class sponsored by D Q-63181 uck
Pool Farm had amazing numbers, with Splash of Potential
Q-80877 owned by Penny Woodhead and ridden by
Matt Frieberg taking the top spot. It was great to see the
Western Riding classes supported again.
Friday evening GQHPA hosted a Pizza and Trivia night
under the marquee. A lot of laughs were had along with
the drawing of the Cent Sale Raffle winners. Frances Bear
was the Lucky winner of a $500 Voucher from Horseman’s
Trading Post. Thank you to all those who supported these
events to help raise funds for the show.
Saturday Classes started with HUS Senior Horse
sponsored by Vicki McNamara and won by VS Heartbeat
Q-73998, owned and ridden by Lyndall Dauth. The 3 Year
Old HUS sponsored by Eve’s Bibs N Ties was won by
Somethingelsetodreamabout Q-83873 and Holly Wilkie.
Holly was one of many who travelled up from Victoria
to the warmth of Queensland. The Hunt Seat Equitation
classes followed the Hunters with the RWD class well
supported, won by Barbara Philpot and Zips Funny Girl
Q-37792. The afternoon finished with more Trail and
Reining. The Terry Tamblyn Memorial Senior Horse Trail
was won by Denims the Menace Q-39003 ridden by
Lacey Lalor. Murray Tamblyn was on hand to present
the garland to Lacey. The reining always provides cheers
and amazing slides. A well earned rest was in store for
Saturday night with Amelia and Kerry Galea supplying a
three course meal to help raise funds for Amelia’s Trans
Tasman trip.
