Tracey likes to get Bailee out to new and different environments , so sometimes goes to the indoor arena to ride him . Originally buying Bailee for Western Pleasure she quickly became bored , until discovering the Ranch classes , and various other pattern classes .
‘ Bailee and I love the pattern classes , our favourites being Ranch , Trail and Showmanship . I think competing in the various pattern classes highlights the adaptability and focus a horse and rider needs , because it proves their individual versatility and connection . Bailee is evidently happy in Ranch classes , too . One of my stipulations before buying Bailee was that he must know how to pivot well , so I could compete in Showmanship . Bailee ’ s ground presence and mannerism makes him a beautiful for this event . To the public it looks easy , you ’ re just leading your horse , but it ’ s very technical and is beautiful to watch when done correctly . We ’ ve also just begun Dressage , which I think we ’ re both enjoying !’
Bailee ’ s a pleasure to show , but Tracey says she often has to earn it by working hard for everything he gives her . But when they place in a class , the reward is satisfying .
‘ Although without any bling , Bailee ’ s unusual season-changing coat colour makes him stand out , and when the show halter goes on , he gets that ‘ look at me ’ attitude . I try to work him at least 5 days a week . I cut back from working full time to 3 days a week to concentrate on Bailee and I becoming a better team , and having a great show year . As an all-round horse competing in a lot of different events , when it ’ s training time , I pick one class and we only work on those manoeuvers . I try not to mix it up so as not to confuse him with what I want .’
