S1-3 Pupil Conference

In February, pupils from S1- 3 took part in a BGE Conference where they were able to share their ideas on the school with others. The groups started with a few icebreakers to settle everyone in, and then moved on to discussing ' Hot Topics '. These are issues or things people would like to improve in the school, such as a wider range of clubs and upgrade the toilets.
The next activity was making posters to show our school values and how we could encourage people to show the value in action. Finally, the last task was using the ' Disney Process '( When you come up with crazy ideas and then slowly cut them down to be more realistic, in the three stages: Dreamer, Realist, Critic) to suggest how we could spend £ 1000 to better the school for pupils. Some of these ideas included: Better gym equipment, fix dugouts at astros and more seats in the dining hall and snack bar.
Many pupils really enjoyed being involved with this experience and working with others. There is likely to be another conference later in year so pupils can become more involved regularly.
