The National Tribal Students ' Education Committee( NETS) celebrated its 7th Foundation Day, reaffirming its commitment to the education and empowerment of tribal students across India. Established in 2019 under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, the NETS has played a significant role in transforming the educational landscape for tribal communities through the administration of Eklavya Model Residential Schools( EMRS).
A program was held on April 2 at the All India Radio( AIR) building, attended by Tribal Affairs Minister Jual Oram, Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durga Das Uike, Chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes( NCST) Antarsingh Arya, senior officials from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, educators, and key stakeholders from EMRS. The event featured an inspiring speech, vibrant cultural performances, and a short film showcasing the remarkable impact of EMRS in advancing quality education for tribal children over the past year.
During the occasion, both Jual Oram and Durga Das Uike reiterated the government ' s commitment to strengthening tribal education and outlined the vision for the future. The NCST Chairman highlighted the crucial role of education in advancing tribal development and emphasized how EMRS has been instrumental in this regard. The academic and extracurricular achievements of EMRS students were celebrated, with twelve students being honored in the morning session. program. Tribal students from various EMRS institutions mesmerized the audience by showcasing their rich cultural heritage.
In a dedicated segment, the previous year ' s achievements of EMRS were highlighted, demonstrating its impact in providing quality education, holistic development, and encouraging a promising future for tribal youth across the country.
Ajit Kumar Srivastav, the Commissioner of NETS, in his address, stated that NETS has played a pivotal role in ensuring quality education for tribal students. With the expansion of EMRS and new initiatives, our goal is to empower the next generation with knowledge and skills for a brighter future.
NETS has made significant progress, expanding to 477 operational schools with over 138,000 student enrollments. Additionally, as a result of successful recruitment efforts, a total of 9,075 teaching and non-teaching staff have been appointed, strengthening the educational system. NETS aims to enhance infrastructure, digital education, and skill development programs to ensure that quality education reaches every tribal student across India. Furthermore, various capacity-building programs, including special training initiatives, have strengthened the foundation of EMRS schools, equipping teachers with the necessary tools to promote excellence and shape a promising future for tribal children.
