WSCA Board Meeting Minutes

Computer: Jake Flodquist
Absent. Jake shared that his Vice-chair would be Jennell Flodquist. James shared that we are again unable to change the year on champshow. org to show 2025 under an individual’ s qualifications. James has reached out to Matt to correct this and show Jake how to correct this in the future.
Drills and Squares: Marlys Mooney Discussion with State Fair needs to happen soon. For sure the Flying E’ s and Wright Saddle Club will participate.
Futurity: Kim Ziegler
Absent. Kim met with Lynn Ellen and James via Zoom on Tuesday to discuss the Futurity budget( attached). They also discussed some ideas to promote the Futurity, including graduated entry fees and the addition of 2-yearold halter and lunge line classes. However, because of the change of venue this year, and some logistics with the entry system for graduated entries, the committee decided to keep the futurity classes and the $ 85 entry fee the same this year and to research some more on the graduated entry fee system. Kim will work with Rachel to expand our futurity marketing with additional postings on social media, the WSCA website, and the Spotlight. Kim has asked Sherrie Nichols to be her Vice Chair. The 2025 Futurity committee budget was presented to the board for approval.
Motion made by Karson Duncanson, seconded by Lori Taylor, to approve the 2025 Futurity Committee budget as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Historian: Tim Wampfler Absent. Nothing to report.
Judges: Lynn-Ellen St. Martin
The committee is finishing up the last of the evaluations on Tara, everything is looking good there. 2025-2027 renewals have been completed, and working on updating contact information. 34 judges are renewing, plus an additional 10 emeritus judges. There have been a few inquiries about the expedited judges application. Lynn-Ellen has been working with Kim on putting together the judges’ schedule for champ show. The committee is continuing to develop topics for the upcoming judges’ seminar. The 2025 Judges committee budget was presented.
Motion made by James Duenow, seconded by Karson Duncanson, to approve the 2025 Judges Committee Budget as presented. Motion carried unanimously.
Marketing & Promotions: Rachel Duenow
Absent. James reporting. Champ show information has been posted to facebook. Rachel will be working on updating and organizing the website. Rachel is working with the Champ show committee on sponsorship and vendor information.
Nominating: Ann Goebel
Working on reviewing the procedure and application. There will be 4 board members whose terms are up at the end of the year: Julia, Rachel, Lori and Amber.
Procedures: Sandy Strube
Working on reviewing some more procedures. Publicity: Lori Taylor
Charlotte and Alexandra shared on the court’ s latest events and plans for future events. Charlotte and Eliza attended the Little Mountain Wranglers saddle club banquet. The court attended Winter Carnival, Bulls-Broncs & Barrels at Verndale. They will be attending the Arena Trailer Sales event, Skijoring at Canterbury, and a Polar Plunge on March 1 st. The Royalty Fundraiser show is June 7 th at Northwest. Lori presented the 2025 Publicity Committee budget.
