to Troubleshoot Before Calling a
Repairman
• Leaky Washer:
• Sometimes, a leaky washer can be the result of loose hose connections. This leak can occur
during filling or draining. When a puddle is always discovered after running the machine,
the hoses should be checked. Ensure that hose connections are secure and tight. If it is a
front-loader, the door gasket should be checked for small tears. The source of the problem
may not be observed when the machine is off. Upon observation during a cycle, the source
of the leak can be detected. However, the problem could be a much serious one. This would
require a washing machine repair expert. Bad connections, damaged hoses and torn door
gaskets must be replaced.
• Noisy Washer:
• A noisy washer can be as a result of inadequate balance. Here you must check that the unit
is level. Otherwise, a small piece of wood can be used to achieve balance. The wood is
placed under one of the legs. The noise could also be due to heavy load. In such cases, you
must reduce the load on the machine. Otherwise, a professional must be hired as the solution
may be a new agitator.
