Washing Machine Repair Issues: How to Troubleshoot Before Calling a Repairman • Washer Fails to Run: • When the washing machine fails to run, it can be due to some minor errors. The first thing to check is the power connection. You should ensure the machine is plugged and that the plug is not loose. To confirm the power supply to that outlet, plug in a different appliance. If the other appliance works, then the outlet is intact and this means the washing machine is broken. However, if the other appliance fails to work, then you have an electrical problem. You can either check your connections or call an electrician (not a washing machine repair expert). • Washer Fails to Fill or Drain: • This can be a pretty basic problem. When the washing machine comes on but does not fill with water, you should check the hose. The washing machine will not fill if the inlet hoses are clogged. Therefore, you must check the hoses for clog and clean it. If the washer fails to drain after a cycle, you should check the drainage hoses. When you are sure there is no obstruction, you can call in a technician. Much larger issues can be responsible. Such issues include pump, water level issues, drive belt and lid switch issues.
