Like most of the other segments of the textile industry, from time to time, this segment also passes through cyclic ups and downs, but the zeal of entrepreneurs is like a strong tool for the survival and growth of this segment. Among the thousand small and big lace manufacturers of Surat, Team Apparel Online recently met some of the top companies to discuss their new developments and initiatives. It was good to see that despite low market sentiments, they are geared up for growth. H aving relatively passed through the demonetization and GST phase with comfort, the lace industry is unexpectedly down from the last few months as demand is not as per the expectation. Surprisingly, the lace manufacturers are unable to analyse the reasons responsible for the same. “From the last few months there is very less demand in the market. When we discuss with our customers about the design requirement or PD, there is a very lukewarm response… Even our clients are unable to understand why there sentiments are down,” shared Dalpat J. Kaswala of Shree Khodal Creation (King Laces). Another known player of the industry Manoj V. Jariwala of Nilesh Ribbon Industries too added a similar opinion, “Yes, currently business is moving very slowly, but we are positive that sooner or later it will move and grow as it used to grow in the past.” Nilesh Ribbon industries is known for jacquard laces and velvet ribbons.
