HanesBrands' environmental attainments earn
9th Consecutive Energy Star Award
HanesBrands, a leading marketer
of everyday basic innerwear and
activewear apparel under world-
class brands in the Americas,
Europe and Asia-Pacific, will
receive the US Environmental
Protection Agency Energy Star
Partner of the Year Award for
Environmental Excellence for the
ninth consecutive year.
Markedly, the Annual Energy
Star Partner of the Year Award
honours organizations that have
made outstanding contrib utions to
protect the environment through
best practices and organization-
wide energy savings.
Hanes, the only apparel company
to be honoured for sustained
excellence by the EPA Energy
Star programme in its 26-year
history, continues to demonstrate
that companies from all industries
can make a difference in energy
conservation, reduction in carbon
emissions and environmental
sustainability.
Allergan, The Boeing Company,
Colgate-Palmolive Company, General
Motors Company and Raytheon are
among others which have earned the
Energy Star recognition.
Hanes has been chosen for the
award for its sustained excellence
in energy conservation, carbon
emissions’ reduction and
environmental sustainability. The
sustainability report released by
the company recently claimed a
7 per cent increase in the use of
renewable energy; and 15, 6 and 7
per cent decline in carbon dioxide
emissions, energy use and water
use, respectively. The company now
aims to lessen carbon emissions and
energy usage by 40 per cent each
and water usage by 50 per cent
by 2020.
VF Corporation bags Corporate
Statesmanship Award
VF Corporation, which owns
brands such as Wrangler, The
North Face and Timberland, has
been honoured for its work to
improve the lives of millions of
apparel and footwear workers
around the world, during
the Annual Statesmanship
Awards Dinner held recently in
Washington, DC.
The honour has come soon after
VF Corporation (the only apparel
company in the world) got placed
on the list of World’s Most Ethical
Company for the year 2018.
VF received the Corporate
Statesmanship Award for
starting Responsible Sourcing
programme in association with
NGOs, industry experts and
academia across 50 countries.
The programme aims to maintain
safe and healthy environment for
workers, manufacturing products
responsibly, and improving
workers’ lives.
The Corporate Statesmanship
Award from the US Association
of Former Members of Congress
(FMC) is a bipartisan, voluntary
non-profit alliance of former US
Senators and Representatives
which recognises outstanding
corporate leadership and
citizenship, including companies
that exemplify service and
commitment to improve the lives of
others.
“The recognisation from FMC is a
great honour,” stated Steve Rendle,
VF’s Chairman, President and
CEO who is proud of what the work
associates have accomplished.
The American apparel company
