ADVERTORIAL Sampling is another area for which the exporters still depend on buyers for the design and what follows are days of rejections, tweaking and approval. And waiting for all these days has a cost attached to it. The intervention of technology to design digital samples with the help of Shima Seiki design solution SDS-ONE APEX3 will ease the sample approval process apart from saving time significantly. Tadanori Ueno, General Manager – Bangladesh Liaison Office, Shima Seiki M. Shahbuddin, Managing Director, Pacific Associates made up of robust components which are 100% Japanese. M. Shahbuddin, Managing Director, Pacific Associates, informs, “Apart from apparel, P-CAM also has its applications in woven, non-woven, technical textiles and automotive industries.” Optimistic towards the response of automatic cutting machines in Bangladesh, Shahbuddin expresses, “There are so many cutters available out there in the market, but Shima Seiki is known for its quality.” Other models of P-CAM are also available for single-ply cutting, single-ply cutting of leather and different small parts. Heading towards automation like no other, surprisingly, Bangladesh has adopted computerized flatbed knitting machines only in the recent few years. Earlier, hand flat machines were ruling the knitwear companies in this prospering country. The question that arises though is whether despite of the rapid development, Bangladesh market is mature enough to imbibe the concept of seamlessly linking all the processes and remotely controlling the machines. In an exclusive discussion with Apparel Online, Ueno asks, “Did anyone predict such technologies about 10 years ago or more? No. Technologies are fast, beyond our prediction.” The revolutionary category of sweaters in the coun try has been supported by the Japanese pioneer with 4,000 installations last year. Taking it away from the conventional hand flat knitting machines, SVR123SP helps garment manufacturers to develop value added knitwear items with its inlay technique. With its Loop Presser, it can produce ‘Woven-like knitwear’, a hybrid textile, combined with knit and weave characteristics. The virtual sampling feature helps in reduction of time, cost and material spent during the sample-making process. “Bangladesh will soon head towards virtual samples, because in future, exporters will not have the privilege of longer lead times,” says Ueno. The onset of technology in a market paired with an effective after-sales support and training is a perfect combination. Shima Seiki, in collaboration with its Bangladesh partner Pacific Associates Ltd., has introduced a training institute to develop the skills in students and make them ready for challenges of the future. Educating on the working of the 3D design system, SDS-ONE APEX3, Shahbuddin adds, “The training is not limited to sweater industries, but is equally useful for other industries as well such as leather, footwear, woven, automotive, technical textiles etc.” The course includes stages addressed as basic, secondary and advanced and it also provides certification after the completion of the course. The applications of virtual sampling solution are not limited to apparel sector only but can also be propagated to other industries like furniture, automotive, leather and technical textiles. Talking of the company’s next year projection, Ueno believes a lot of factors will determine the year ahead. In his words, “The dynamics of Bangladesh RMG industry are changing, they are moving towards modernization and supporting them in their transition is Shima Seiki with its gamut of solutions along with the strong after-sales support by Pacific Associates.” Team Shima Seiki at DTG, Bangladesh SHIMA SEIKI MFG., LTD. 85, Sakata Wakayama 641-8511, Japan, Tel: +81-73-474-8210, Fax: +81-73-474-8270 www.apparelresources.com | APRIL 2018 | Apparel Online Bangladesh 45
