WelnessGroupFormed AnOf�cerWelnessAdvisoryGroupwasformedofbothswornandprofessionalstafmembersinconcertwith thePoliceUnion, whoarechargedwithidentifyingresourcesthatmayprovidethenecessarysupporttoof�cers inmanagingstress, mentalhealthchalenges, andthedemandsoftheirroles. Thisgroupwilcontinuetogain momentum asplanscontinuetodevelop, perspectivesarebroughttothetable, andpilotprogramsbegintotake shape.
YouthFocus | EnhancingPolice – YouthEngagement InMarch, theAPDlaunchedapilotmentoringprogram tosupportthesocial-emotionalwel-beingof6thand7th gradersatGeorgeWashingtonMiddleSchool. Incolaborationwithschoolfaculty, APDidenti�edstudentstobe pairedwithpoliceof�cersforthenine-weekprogram. Whilethereareseveralmentoringinitiativesinthecity, itis imperativeforpolicetostrengthenrelationshipswithouryouth. Wearecommitedtocontinuouslyimproving emotionalsupportforyoungpeople, helpingthem reachtheirhighestpotential. Wehavetoseekcontinuous improvementonenhancingemotionalsupportofouryouth.
