Scientist for the day The School of Science played host to 400 children aged 6 to 12 who participated in the BASF Kids Lab, a free interactive chemistry education program designed to help kids discover the world of chemistry through simple and safe experiments. Recognising excellence Malaysian Brain Bee Challenge Monash University Malaysia has partnered with Methodist College Kuala Lumpur to recognise academically excellent students. Deserving students will have the opportunity to receive three Monash Book Prizes worth RM1000 each and one Medicine Bursary Award worth RM50,000. This neuroscience competition held by Universiti Sains Malaysia aimed to motivate secondary students to learn about the brain and inspire them to pursue careers in biomedical brain research. It is a joint university−community project conducted nationwide, and the finals were hosted at Monash University Malaysia for the first time. Stepping up to wellness Our Counselling, Health and Wellness Services department and Monash University Pharmacy Society (MUPhaS) were behind the Step Up to Wellness and MUPhaS Public Health Campaign 2018 ‘Depression: Let’s Talk’. The two-day event featured informative talks by speakers from Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Sunway Medical Centre and Befrienders Kuala Lumpur, as well as a forum on Sexual Safety with a panel of speakers from the Royal Malaysia Police, MindWorks Psychology and Counselling Centre, and Dr Goh Pei Hwa from our Department of Psychology.
