Research Data Directions and Enterprise Systems
The campus talk, sponsored by the Library and Campus Research
Management, featured David Groenewegen, Director of Research at
Monash University Australia Library. He highlighted the University's
research ecosystems, infrastructure and services that support
Monash research outputs and research data, including the
Library-managed systems and research repositories.
CONFERENCES
International Symposium on Dementia
This symposium attracted over 100 participants including 24
representatives from various medical organisations in Japan, resulting
in a multidisciplinary mix of clinical investigators, basic scientists,
established investigators and young students in attendance. Topics
discussed included recent research, developments and treatments
for neurodegenerative diseases. The event sustained a highly
interactive environment where exchange of ideas and networking
were encouraged.
Annual EILP Summit
The Schools of Engineering and IT held their annual Engineering & IT
Leadership Program (EILP) conference, titled ‘Horizons − Achieve
What You Believe’. The conference presented talks by academics
and Monash alumni, as well as a forum featuring a line-up of
accomplished industry leaders.
The State of Malaysian Literature in the 21st Century:
An ASIATIC Symposium
Hosted by the School of Arts and Social Sciences, the objective of
the symposium was to assess the state of Malaysian literature in the
21st century, covering literature in all the major written languages in
the country. Participants included professors from universities in
Australia, Malaysia, Singapore and Tokyo.
Telemedicine Conference
The third Malaysian conference on telemedicine was hosted in
collaboration with the Malaysian Ministry of Health, Collaborative
Research in Engineering, Science & Technology (CREST), and
Sunway Medical Centre. Participants of the three-day conference
included relevant stakeholders and medical providers who discussed
significant topics and issues surrounding moving healthcare in
Malaysia into the information technology age.
International Symposium on Autism
Organised by the Brain Research Institute at Monash Sunway, the
symposium brought together experts in autism who shed light on the
disorder. Speakers from Australia, Japan, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore
and Malaysia gave insights into some of the advanced therapeutic,
clinical and basic knowledge about autism.
Academia Sinica-Monash Malaysia Bilateral Forum
The first Academia Sinica-Monash Malaysia Bilateral Forum was
jointly organised by the School of Science and the Tropical Medicine
& Biology Multidisciplinary Platform. Twenty-five speakers from
various institutions presented their research in neuroscience,
environmental science and cancer.
Genderworks Symposium
‘Genderworks: Dialogue and Action Across Our Differences’, an
undergraduate conference on gender studies, was convened by the
School of Arts and Social Sciences with the School of Business. The
top five papers were published in Legal Craft & Such, a monthly
e-publication initiated by the Continuing Professional Development
Department of the Bar Council in collaboration with Thomson Reuters.
