CAMPUS LEARNING

While we work hard to develop curricula that are highly relevant and informed by the necessities of the age , learning opportunities at Monash aren ’ t just confined to the classroom . Throughout the year , our students and academics take part in a variety of campus-wide activities that aim to provoke thought , promote discourse and challenge perspectives .
TALKS AND WORKSHOPS
UOB Financial Literacy Program
This program was organised by United Overseas Bank ( UOB ) Malaysia and the School of Business to raise awareness of financial literacy among youth . It consisted of an industry seminar featuring guest speakers Azran Osman Rani , then CEO of iflix Malaysia , and Ronnie Lim , Managing Director of UOB Malaysia , as well as two workshops on the renowned Praxis board game . About 150 students from all schools participated in this program .
Enterprise for People and Planet : Malaysian Perspective
The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub ( eiHUB ) hosted the first ' On the Edge Series ' with an engaging talk from two Malaysian entrepreneurs , Jerryson Abraham Doss of Viva Starfish and Rashvin Pal Singh from Biji-Biji . The speakers shared experiences on how social enterprises can have a sustainable impact on social and environmental issues , and highlighted the motivational barriers that prevent individuals from taking social action as well as the organisational obstacles in setting up and running a social enterprise .
Engineers Australia
John McIntosh , National President of Engineers Australia , gave a talk on ‘ Engineers Australia and the Australian engineering profession ’ that was attended by both students and staff . McIntosh visited our campus with Peter McIntyre , CEO of Engineers Australia .
Intimate Partner Violence Workshop
A workshop aimed at raising awareness of domestic violence was jointly organised by the Clinical School Johor Bahru in collaboration with Efecto Mariposa ( Monash Mental Health Club ), Johor Mental Health , Johor Women ' s League , and Women ' s Aid Organisation . The event also featured a lunch talk by Professor Jan Coles from Monash Australia .
Populism in Asia : Contours , Causes , Consequences
This two-day workshop gathered 15 scholars from Asia , Australia and Europe to explore the issue of populist mobilisation in Asia , its causes and consequences . The workshop was organised by the School of Arts and Social Sciences with the German Institute of Global and Area Studies and Monash ' s Global Asia in the 21st Century research platform .
Health Economics Workshop
Titled ‘ The Role of Health Economics and Health Technology Assessment in Establishing Value and Market Access for New Pharmaceuticals ’, this annual gathering brought together the brightest minds in the field of health economics . Held in the form of a two-day workshop to ensure a more interactive session , topics of discussion centered not just on drugs but also medical devices , precision medicine , and biological impact .
HR Forum
This forum brought together 153 human resource ( HR ) practitioners , scholars and postgraduate students to discuss ongoing HR challenges and opportunities . Speakers and panels discussed the most effective strategies to attain a competitive advantage , how the advancement of technology has changed the employment landscape , why we need to move towards an integrated HR platform , and how these changes will have numerous effects on the current HR policies and practices in Asian organisations .
The eiHUB , established by the School of Business , strives to drive sustainable innovation to deliver meaningful solutions to societal challenges . It focuses on development and incubation to help create and grow young businesses by providing them with necessary support through coaching and training , research , and engagement with the industry . 7
BioBusiness Talk
The School of Science ' s first ever BioBusiness Talk featured a dialogue with Dr Tom Beardslee , Vice President of R & D at Verdezyne Inc . The session aimed to provide an understanding of what bio-based companies are and what they focus on .
Entrepreneur Speaker Series
Shopee Malaysia ’ s Marketing Lead and Monash alumni Rachel Tan shared her journey through an entrepreneurial career pathway , the challenges faced and life lessons learnt as a young graduate traversing the unpredictable world of startups .
