Board Events The Yarra Courses Interclub season is to be played The premier event of the year was as always the Club Championships, which were held in March, culminating with the final on 13 March. In B Grade Robin Carter defeated former Captain Julie McDonald and in C Grade Pat Thomas defeated in August this year to try to avoid the wettest months which usually have an impact on the number of matches able to be completed. Hopefully the change of date will mean that all matches can be played. Social Events first time entrant Wilma Gray. Our social events are always very well patronised. The Captain’s Trophy was played on 29 May a full field. Royal Melbourne took home the trophy between former Lady Captain Julie Pilling and former Club Director Felicity Beaumont with Julie proving victorious in a close match between two great friends. For a list of other Board event winners throughout The Green Acres Bowl was held on 21 February with for the second year running. The Green Acres Bowl remains extraordinarily popular due in no small part to the many volunteers that act as spotters and help make the day run so very smoothly. The Irish Day in March is always great fun with many Representative Golf players getting into the spirit and dressing for the The Golf Victoria Pennant season did not unfold as we hoped, however 2014 was the first time any Pennant team from Green Acres had competed in Division 2, so we should be proud of the manner in which the team conducted themselves against such strong opposition. It was extremely competitive but we did manage a win at Long Island. Next year Green Acres will be in Division 3 and I am sure we will be very competitive as we have learnt a lot from this season. The Matchplay season was not as successful as last year, even though we fielded very strong teams every week. 12 occasion. The Ladies Guest Day was held on 29 April under very threatening skies. We always have a full field and 2014 was no exception. We missed the majority of the rain and had a wonderful lunch. We received many compliments about the course, the Clubhouse, the event, the staff and the lunch. The Bridge group on Thursdays is thriving and is very much enjoyed by those who participate.
