initiative . This Plan will help us continue to provide exceptional girl-centred education and expand opportunities for all students at CHS , regardless of their financial circumstances .
This year , the School was presented with an opportunity to purchase a residential property located on Blenheim Street , directly across from campus and adjacent to the Head of School ’ s house . After careful assessment of its condition , valuation , unique location and the School ’ s financial capacity , the Board made the decision to acquire the property as a strategic investment to support our long-term goals . Our strategic and ongoing priorities continue to be student learning experiences , the growth of our financial assistance program , and the elimination of our debt . However , capitalizing on this opportunity was important to enhance the flexibility and sustainability of the School and , when utilized as staff housing , our ability to attract and retain the highest-quality staff — these initiatives both fall under the Active Stewardship strategy of our strategic plan .
It should be noted that all tuition fees are dedicated solely to funding our operating budget . Separately , we continue to rely on the generous support of our community to fund financial assistance and our Campus Master Plan . This includes campus enhancement to ensure the best learning environment for our students , eliminating our remaining debt and , on rare occasions , property purchases .
As I reflect on my first year as Chair of the Board , I am deeply honoured to work alongside each dedicated Board member who generously gives their time and expertise to support our School and its students . Thank you for your ongoing support as I transitioned into this role .
I have truly enjoyed connecting with many of you throughout the year and look forward to meeting even more community members in the coming months , including at our Head of the School / Chair of the Board coffee mornings starting in November 2024 . Crofton House would not be the vibrant community it is today without each of you . Thank you .
