STRATEGY
YEAR TWO IMPLEMENTATION GOALS
Update the current articulation of our teaching and learning philosophy to be in line with the CHS identity and the vision of Deeper Learning , and develop teaching and learning principles to underpin all pedagogy going forward .
A focus on metacognition in the Junior School and integration of Learning Habits in principle and practice in the Senior School .
Purposeful Learning
Support a dedicated Professional Learning Community for implementing cross-curricular / design thinking projects .
Support a dedicated professional learning community for ecological literacy and sustainability education , and introduce units to extend education on sustainability in Grades 8 and 9 Science and Grade 10 Socials .
Develop a vision and plan for extending the Work Experience Program ( WEP ) in the Senior School .
Establish a community partnership committee that , guided by the partnership model developed in 2023 – 2024 , will oversee the identification of recipients for the funds raised at the Winter Bazaar and will initiate the review of existing partnerships .
Meaningful Partnerships
Enrich parent engagement in the life of the School through strategies that include :
• Sharing data on student well-being and perspectives
• Increasing the frequency and range of topics for community learning opportunities and collecting feedback on them
• Expanding the library of Purposeful Parenting resources to support community learning opportunities
• Publishing a website of Learning Together events for parents / guardians
Pilot parent ambassadors program to support admission events .
Launch a bespoke platform to enable connection with parents and alumnae interested in supporting the educational program .
Continue to work on the installation of an art piece on campus by a Musqueam artist , and begin to set the foundation for a Reconciliation Plan through engagement with the Ministry of Education Equity in Action initiative .
Research the resources and processes required to develop a Sustainability Plan through the Climate Action Accelerator Program ( CAAP ) and implement some of the measures suggested by the Sustainability Audit to limit waste , energy consumption and paper use .
Active Stewardship
Implement recommendations from the Staff Matters Task Force for Year Two , including :
• Implementing work flexibility for teaching staff
• Completing a benefits audit
• Researching approaches to feedback and recognition
• Creating additional social connection opportunities
• Reviewing co-curricular and supervision duties
• Increasing administration visibility
Roll out parents , students , staff and alumnae surveys according to the strategy developed in 2023 – 2024 , with the addition of a feedback survey for incoming parents / guardians .
Implement recommendations from the communication audit completed in 2023 – 2024 that included feedback from parents / guardians and staff .
