Create a shared vision of deep learning rooted in a growth mindset and agency that will shape and support future teaching decisions .
A definition of deep learning that will guide all further work was developed to be shared with staff in 2024 – 2025 connecting deep learning with agency and existing pedagogical approaches .
COMPLETE
Identify strategies that foster agency in learning for all students , and remove obstacles that may hinder certain groups of learners .
In the Junior School , with input from staff and students , all staff implemented one of three strategies ( metacognition , goal setting , or growth mindset ). Teachers reported a shift in understanding how to effectively foster student agency from Kindergarten to Grade 7 .
In the Senior School , a new reporting framework was developed to support student agency , including individual standards and learning habits , while new courses and departmental goals were introduced to provide more choice and strengthen agency across subjects .
COMPLETE
Establish a dedicated Professional Learning Community ( PLC ) to identify effective models for teaching and learning that are cross-curricular , problem-based , experiential , service , or work-based .
The PLC identified good practices , challenges , and opportunities in cross-curricular models and design thinking , which will be explored further in next year ’ s projects .
COMPLETE
Establish a K-12 scope and sequence map for knowledge , skills and attitudes connected to ecological literacy and sustainability education .
Documented scope and sequence , and made recommendations for implementation in future years .
Eight staff registered to participate in the climate collaborative focusing on enhancing learning opportunities in Grades 6 to 10 .
