PEER AND PRACTICE ASSESSMENTS
On the rare occasion , the QI Program is not able to adequately support the physician in their quality improvement activity , a focused Peer and Practice Assessment may be recommended by CPSO ’ s Quality Assurance ( QA ) Committee . In 2022 , 95 physicians were referred to the program – about two percent of physicians involved in the QI program .
Other Criteria when selecting physicians for assessment are :
54
Hospitals signed on to the partnership , surpassing our target of establishing 40 hospital QI partnerships . These partnerships involve 2,250 physicians .
> Age-related selection : We assess all practising physicians not assessed in the last five years at age 70 and then every five years as long as they are in active practice . In 2022 , we assessed 610 physicians over 70 .
In 2022 , we piloted a QI enhanced program for physicians over 70 . Twenty physicians participated in 2022 . In 2023 , a QA cohort of physicians 70-72 years of age will be given the option to select this enhanced QI program in lieu of a peer assessment .
> Physicians changing their scope of practice or re-entering practice : The Registration Committee may direct the QA department to conduct a practice assessment on their behalf for those physicians who are in the process of changing scope or re-entering practice .
In 2022 , we assessed 610 physicians over the age of 70
