DAY 1 Las Vegas / Grand Canyon
Collect your car and leave the bright lights behind as you travel through the scenic desert to your chosen accommodation at the Grand Canyon .
DAY 2 Grand Canyon
We recommend that you start by heading to the Grand Canyon Visitor Centre which has lots of great resources along with expert rangers who can advise on guided tours . This incredible natural wonder stretches for 277 miles from end to end and its walls descend over a mile to the floor , where the wild Colorado River carves its way through the rugged landscape . There are fantastic panoramas from a variety of paved viewing points along the many trails , allowing you to walk at your own pace , stopping here and there to absorb the mesmerising views . Alternatively , free shuttle buses operate along set routes around the rim which link the visitor centre and viewpoints with hotels and other facilities . Another option is to hire bikes , either to explore independently or with a tour guide , which is recommended as they can take you to viewpoints away from the crowds . On page 108 , you ’ ll also find a variety of pre-bookable experiences , including a helicopter tour for a bird ’ s eye view across this head-turning landscape , and a fun-filled Pink Jeep tour .
Be sure to find yourself a top spot so you can watch the picture-perfect views as the sun disappears for the day . See the sky transform into a vibrant palette of colour , a sight that is sure to live long in the memory .
