Full Circle: From Learner to Lecturer- Thureya Roberts’ Story
Helping Others Grow Beyond Their Trauma
Thureya didn’ t follow a traditional path into education, but her determination has taken her from a young person in care with no qualifications to a lecturer in biology, psychology, and life sciences at Fife College.
She first joined the College in 2005 to study Applied Sciences, progressing through HNC and HND Biomedical Sciences before earning a first-class honours degree in Biomedical Science from Abertay University, where she won the Institute of Biomedical Science President’ s Prize.
Thureya went on to work in NHS haematology, blood transfusion, and cancer research, before returning to Fife College to inspire the next generation of scientists.
She has since developed interactive pharmacy courses with the NHS, completed multiple teaching qualifications, and graduated with an MSc in Psychology.
Today, she combines science, psychology, and self-help through her website and digital resources, helping others overcome adversity.
“ I was once a learner here and now I am teaching others,” Thureya says.“ With support and a willingness to learn, you can achieve more than you ever thought possible.”
