Altitude 2497 COSFORD SQUADRON Saturday, we packed our bags and thoroughly cleaned the accommodation and waited for our coach to arrive. When it did we loaded our cases onto the coach and set off for home. The journey home was a lot quieter than on the way there. We stopped of at a service station for a break and before we set off we presented paper plate awards. These ranged from best cadet to best unofficial name which went to Cdt. Vishnid Von Viper (how he ended up with that name we’ll never know). It was a great week and I’d like to say a big thank you to all the staff and cadets for making it so enjoyable. Can’t wait till next year! In the evening we did a familiarization exercise or ‘famex’ for short. On this we had to around the camp trying to find places including the taj mahal; this was 45 squadron’s building name. On the first full day, we woke up at 6am and had to prepare for a room inspection, which we had after breakfast. The day’s activities included visiting Newark Air Museum and Lincoln city center. This was the easiest day and was to break you into camp life, dinner was at 16:30 and this was at the junior ranks mess. We had some free time after dinner, and then it was lights out at 22:30. On the second day, we had our camp photo outside CHOM. R.A.F.C Cranwell Summer Camp “On Saturday the 11th of August, seven cadets and I went to R.A.F.C Cranwell on summer camp. After a 3 and a half hour journey we arrived at our block and unpacked. The block was made up of three sections; two downstairs and one upstairs. The room was quite small and contained a sink, bed desk and wardrobe. The open space was about 2 meters long by 1 meter wide. We then went to an activity centre where we did archery and raft building. After a raft race we had some free time where we could jump off a jetty or go in the canoes. On Tuesday we took a tour around college hall officer’s mess or CHOM as it is more commonly known. This is the building where officers go to when they first get commissioned.
