Obesity- What is obesity? Obesity is when your body has accumulated excess body fat resulting in you becoming overweight. This is something that no young teenagers like yourselves would want. Why does this happen you may ask yourself? Eating cookies and chips everyday as you sit in front of your computer screen each day may seem like a harmless act you may think but the consequences are dangerous. Cookies, pizza or ice cream are filled with fats and simple carbohydrates. Fast foods also contain diets with large calories,a burger king double whopper contains 900 calories which is already half of the daily recommended calories. As you eat these foods, teens don’t realize the amount of calories they are consuming. Obesity has become one of the largest public concerns.
Diabetes- What is diabetes? Diabetes is when your pancreas cannot produce enough insulin to get rid of any sugar that you eat. Therefore the sugars stay in your body. Cake and candy are filled with simple carbohydrates which are broken down immediately for energy but they don’t provide the adequate amounts of nutrients or minerals. Diabetes type 2 can be diagnosed if a person is overweight or are eating the wrong types of foods such as junk foods.
