Make sure the total volume of ingredients added exceeds the minimum level mark but is not more than 1700ml as a maximum. The internal sensor near the base of the jug must be covered with liquid otherwise under filling the soup maker jug will result in the alarm sounding and the unit failing to operate. However, overfilling will cause the hot contents (which will expand during the cooking process) to reach the lid when boiling, in which case the upper sensor will switch off the heating function to help prevent boiling over. WARNING: Food with high starch or sugar content will easily burn on the bottom if the level is allowed to drop below the minimum or it is allowed to boil dry. The typical cooking time for a programme containing ingredients stored at a room temperature of 18C is approximately 25-30 minutes. Note: the above sequence relies on uninterrupted operation. Any interruption will result in the cancellation of the programme. Restarting will result in the cooking being repeated which may affect the final results. Unlocking and removing the lid will stop the programme also. Any ingredients to be added during the cooking process can be added through the food chute in the centre of the lid. Cleaning and Maintenance Do not clean any part of the soup maker in a dishwasher. Always disconnect the soup maker from the mains power supply and allow to cool before cleaning. Do not immerse the soup makerbase unit, power cord and plug or the jug in water or any other liquids. Clean the surface of the base unit and the outer of the jug with a soft, damp cloth. Wash the Measuring Cup, Jug Cover, Egg Steamer and Filter in warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly. To clean the inside of the jug, rinse to remove any remaining soup or large food particles. Half fill the jug with warm soapy water and then using the supplied brush remove any food remains before rinsing again. Either allow the jug to dry naturally or dry using a soft cloth. TAKE CARE when drying around the blades as these are very sharp. Caution: the blades inside the jug are not removable and are very sharp; extreme caution should be taken when cleaning the inside of the jug. Warning: DO NOT allow water to enter the electrical connections of the jug during cleaning. Using the soup maker’s programmes to aid the removal of stubborn stains: Simply assemble the soup maker as previously described and add 800ml of water and a small amount of mild detergent. Fit the lid and switch the soup maker on. Press the BLENDER or PULSE buttons and the blades will rotate to clean the jug.
