Volume 1, Issue 1 Page 4 FitSistaz As salaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu bismillah was salaatu was salaamu 'ala Rasoolillah We want to thank everyone for reading our newsletter. You will find it very beneficial. This column is about being fit and healthy. We started a group on Facebook called FitSistaz. FitSistaz is a source of motivation for your health and fitness needs. You?ll find workouts, tips and challenges as well. It is important that as Muslim women we take care of an amaanah (trust) that Allaah has given us, our health. We are wives, mothers, aunts and most importantly slaves of Allaah. We must take care of ourselves so that we can take care of the responsibilities that Allaah has given us. Also we have to be steadfast in our worship to Him. If we are weak and unhealthy it will be hard to worship Him in a way that is pleasing to Him. So why not start today to make your health better. In FitSistaz we have weekly challenges. We motivate and encourage each other through these challenges. We also remind each other of Allaah. Our intentions for being healthy/fit should be for the pleasure of Allaah first. With Allaah comes all of the success. Recently we completed a one week challenge in which we omitted all liquids other than water. No soda, coffee, tea or milk etc. It was successful and many found it to be beneficial. Sunday we will start a new jump rope challenge (100-200 per day). It does not matter how many you do at one time. What's important is that you try to finish either 100 or 200 daily, in sha Allaah. On Sundays we have Sugarless Sundays in which we omit added sugar and food or drinks con- taining sugar from our diet. Following that we have Meatless Monday. We will try to do something every day of the week. The purpose of these daily challenges is to eventually cut out all of the bad things in our diet, in sha Allaah. May Allaah make it easy on all of us, Allaahumma Ameen. We will also be interviewing sisters about their fitness/health stories. How they started and how they met their goals etc. Please contact FitSistaz or S.O.U.R.C.E.S Book Club. We welcome you to be a part of our Facebook health & fitness community, join FitSistaz today! Introduce yourselves, post anything that you think may be beneficial for health and fitness and most importantly be a source of motivation for others in the group. Stay fit & healthy and keep the amaanah. Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: The Prophet said, "There are two blessings which many people lose: (They are) Health and free time for doing good." Al-Bukhari UmmAbdillah Clarke Ayat of the Week - Al-Bayyinah - 98:5 "And they were commanded not, but that they should worship Allah, and worship none but Him Alone (abstaining from ascribing partners to Him), and perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and give Zakat, and that is the right religion.'' Homemaker of the Week Dear Sisters, We dedicate this weekly column to all of you hardworking homemakers out there. Please send us a short message of why you should own this week?s title, “Homemaker of the Week”. Tell us about your day, the time you spend cleaning, cooking, working, teaching or learning. Each week, we?ll decide who should own this spot. Let us know if you enjoy it, hate it or appreciate it. Your frustrations may receive a beneficial response from other readers, so don?t hold back. Your tips may be a benefit for others as well. We put in just as much time and effort if not more, so here?s a special column dedicated to the homemaker in YOU!!!
