One Springdale company, Cargill, is helping answer that question by opening doors and growing its employees into tomorrow’ s leaders.
Cargill is much more than a turkey processing business, said Shane Acosta, Springdale complex General Manager. The business provides food, agriculture, financial and industrial products all over the world, and you can find Cargill’ s products in virtually every major foodservice and retail chain in the
United States.
Cargill’ s Springdale plant processes about 50,000 birds per day, and houses a large distribution center that ships products across the country. As one of Springdale’ s largest employers, Cargill career options range from production, food safety and quality assurance, to maintenance, refrigeration and electronics work.
“ Cargill is looking for talented individuals to fill a variety of positions at our complex, with pay ranging from $ 30,000 to $ 50,000 plus per year,” said Julie Lawrence, Human Resources Manager.“ These jobs include maintenance mechanics, refrigeration technicians, wastewater operators, electronic technicians, farm managers, food safety, quality assurance workers and feed mill operators.”
Students who study agriculture, or take classes that teach skills like welding, could have an advantage when applying for these jobs, Lawrence said.
Employees can also receive training at Cargill to help them earn promotions to more prestigious and higher-paying careers, such as management positions, Lawrence said. Employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement for classes related to the core functions in their field, she added.
