Nicolas: African sports federations must absolutely professionalize their communication if they want to attract
sponsors who seek above all to increase their visibility by associating their name with the values of a sport.
Federations must understand that they are in competition with other sports. Sponsors will focus their budgets
on the most high-profile sports. Africa, whose population will double by 2050 and which will represent 40% of
humanity by 2100, represents an absolutely essential challenge for all international sports federations.
Those who will succeed in differentiating themselves will be those who will start to think as soon as possible in
terms of market share.
Ahmad Sasso Interview Cont'd
ASM: Finally, Every year you help to organize
Soccer events in your country of birth; Sierra
Leone. You Ship out tons of equipment and donate
to clubs and your old School St. Edwards
Secondary school. Tell us a bit about your
Philanthropic efforts and where does this good
heart to give back come from.
Ahmad Sasso: Well, I’m a firm believer in paying it
forward. When you’re gone in this life, your legacy
is what you leave behind, so make it a positive one.
Me giving back to the country where I was raised is
actually the easiest of all. I grew up in an
environment where my late Mom (RIP) being a
charitable woman believed in sharing with the less
fortunate and treating everyone as equals
regardless of their individual
situation. My Mom is my all-time hero. As I said, my
Dad and Uncles all played the game and ran several
1st division clubs back in the day. It will only be right
for me to follow in their footsteps. I have played and
been mentored by some of the greatest players in
Sierra Leone and the world. This helps me see life
differently and understand my life’s purpose more
clearly. It is my dream to even do more once I am in a
financial position to do so and I will continue this
pattern for as long as I have good health. My former
school gave me the education that I use today and I
cannot be more grateful. I went to a great school in St.
Edwards Secondary School where I played soccer and
ran track and field. It is my joyful duty to help in
anyway I can.
